Truelly Enchanted Kingdom lives up to it's name as we spent our day full of laughter, joy, excitement, fun and not to mention a lot of adrenaline (courtesy of the EKstreme Rides). Going to Enchanted Kingdom is a dream come true for me as I grew up always wanting to go there. Now Im going to share to our experience at EK. The group's plan was to wake up early in the morning and arrive at Enchanted Kingdom by 8 AM but just like any plans it usually doesnt go down as planned. We ended waking up one by one from 9 AM - 10 AM (Simultaneaous Waking Routine). Our plan was to leave our apartment at 11 AM but alas we ended up leaving at 11:30 AM. So we boarded a jeepney to Turbina (15 php) and rode another jeepney ride to Balibago Sta. Rosa (36 Php). We unboarded the jeepney at Walter Sta. Rosa and we decided to eat there because some of us didnt have the time to eat breakfast. It was already past 12 NN when we got there and I did not expect to see a lot of people waiting in line. It did not took as too long to wait though because we have the ever reliable Jethro to hassle his way to get us tickets. The regular day pass costs 500 php while the Student Day Pass costs 380 php. From our group only 3 are students while the rest of us are already working but we still managed to bring out some school related ID to get the discount. Pretty smart and lucky of us.... but there was one of us who left all of his ID home so he was to pay 500 for the tickets. Lets just hide him with the pseudoname Leover Labor. Hohoho. Yes! If you have read my previous blog, he is the same Leo in the Pinoy Henyo Game. First of all! Merry Christmas and happy holidays! How far are we from home? Let's say its just 890.26 kilometers (km) away from Home. For many of us this would be their first time spending Christmas away from their family and loved ones but this does not make our Christmas sad or lonely. We made sure our Christmas here would be memorable and fun. We prepared a lot of food (Depends on how you define a lot though) and we also planned to have a Kris Kringle. Pre - Christmas Preparation and Food Trip We all have our share in preparing our food for Christmas Eve. I helped make the Mango Float together with John, Rose and Athina while Leo and Kareen is incharge of the Macaroni Salad. Jethro was the one who cooked the barbeque but I helped him by making the barbeque sauce (My Special Sauce). Rosemie and Leo pre-cooked the Chicken Drumsticks while John cooked the overly sweet spaghetti. Gene (Ms. Pikot) cooked the pancit canton while Yanyan and Sharade (Please forgive me if the spelling is wrong) helped her. It's not yet Christmas but our tummy wants to eat therefore we need to eat some of our food for Chrismas Eve. We ate till we are full forgetting we would eat later on Christmas Eve. My friends and I woke up early on a gloomy Sunday (December 4,2011). The weather doesn't look good. I was thinking that maybe it's a bad omen for some of us who will take the JLPT on that day. I didnt even study for the exam. So what is JLPT? JLPT in a flash Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is a test to gauge an individual's understanding about the Japanese Language (Nihongo). The test has 5 Levels (Previous JLPT Exams only have 4 Levels). The levels are N5 to N1 where N1 is the highest level. The test includes listening (Personally my favorite base on my performance on the actual exam), reading comprehension and grammar. All subtests includes several Kanji characters so giving an equal attention to memorizing Kanji characters is advised. The exam is usually held in De La Salle: College of Saint Benilde for Luzon examinees. You can learn more about JLPT here: JLPT Website. It was a sunny monday and it was a perfect day to go out. We planned to go to Jose Rizal's House in Calamba but we think it would be closed because it is a holiday or it would be just too crowded. That's why we just decided to go to SM Calamba to unwind and go window shopping. The trip to Calamba, Laguna from Sto. Tomas, Batangas would take 45 minutes or an hour depending on the traffic congestion near Calamba. So we took a jeepney (as always) to Calamba and got their about an hour before noon. We went in the mall and were amazed and partially confused when we saw a swarm of soldiers inside the mall. Walking towards the center of the mall we saw various displays of military equipments like guns, uniforms, guns, old radios, and have I mentioned there are guns. My eyes sparkled after seeing those M16 and M14 waiting at the table to be picked up by anyone. So I went in the line to have the chance to hold some of the displays. And look what I got a hold of. I'm a little bored in work because I'm still waiting for my software development proposal to be approved by our president (Shachou). That is why I'm going to write about my short trip to the "Land of the Champions".
I think it's been 10 years ago when I last visited General Santos City. I lived there for about 5 years before we returned to our home town, Davao City. When I was still living there the place was a bit undeveloped. There were a few malls, streets were unpaved and there were a lot of vacant lots. I was amazed how much development the city had undergone through the years. Today General Santos City has a Robinson's Mall and the Old KCC Mall was renovated to become a classy looking mall. The Gaisano Mall is still there but it looks like it was left behind by the other malls. I also saw the place where SM Gensan would soon rise. The streets are not as dusty as before. Before when a Tricycle passes you by a cloud of dust and smoke would also pass you next. The government really did a good work in attracting investors and funding infrastructure development. |
