Food Stop: Squido's Restaurant
Location: Calle Hama, El Nido, Palawan
Date: April 17, 2014
I asked several locals if they can suggest nice places to eat while in El Nido and they helpfully enumerated some but there were three places that the majority of them suggested: The Alternative, Sea Slugs and Squido's. I spent three nights in El Nido so I have enough time to try all three of them and I will try to share to you my experiences and personal thoughts on all of them.
It is easy to find because El Nido Proper is just a small place. You can also ask the locals for direction and they can surely help because Squido's Restaurant is one of the known restaurants in El Nido.

My Rating
Food/Drinks : 8
We ordered Stuffed Squid, their specialty, and Fish in Sweet and Sour Sauce. The rice was not included so we ordered two garlic rice and one Shanghai Rice (Good for 2 person). The Stuffed Squid came out of the kitchen first and was served in our table and damn it looked so delicious. The Shanghai Rice came next and damn it also looked delicious. The Fish in Sweet and Sour Sauce and Garlic came and damn it also looked delicious. I can't wait to take a bite but I took several pictures first so I can share it to you guys. The food tastes great and it lived up to my expectation. It looked so delicious that even the people next to us ordered the same thing when they saw our order came. They also encourage foreigners to try Filipino food.
Service : 7
The service was good even though they only have two people on the floor. I consider the availabilty of the food listed on their menu as part of their service. I only gave 7 because several things we wanted that was listed on their menu was not available at that time. I would like the waiter to tell me ahead what is not available at that time before handing us the menu rather than letting us choose something from the menu then tell us that it was not available all along.
Price : 7
It was fairly cheap comparing to other restaurants in the area. Their price is in accordance with their serving size so I would not complain about their pricing. I also understand that some of their ingredients they use comes from other distant towns so I understand a little increase in the price.
Ambiance : 7
The dining area is just right. As I remember there were only six (6) tables that vary in length and size. When we got there, we were lucky to have a table because there were still several vacant tables but after several minutes all the tables were filled. In fact there were people who shared their table with other groups of people. I am not sure though if it is always full even in off-seasons.
